Does IP Address Change With Location?

Does IP Address Change With Location

IP addresses help in identifying specific users and networks. It is a unique set of numbers allocated to an individual computer or local network. This number is mainly used by an identifier to collect, send and share information from one location to another. There are mainly two parts. One is the Network ID and the Host ID.

You can change the IP address of your home computer based on various tools and by requesting ISP for a new IP address. Whenever you travel, the home IP address does not have any impact, and it won’t follow you. When you are away from home, you can connect to an alternative internet connection anytime.  Based on your location and device, you will get a brand new IP address.

How an IP Addresses Assigned?

Understanding the working of an IP address is very important. Through an organisation named ICANN, IP addresses are normally created, controlled and assigned.  The organisation is also responsible for different functions related to namespaces that are related to the internet.

Now secondary organisations, such as government bodies and internet service providers, distribute the IP addresses. After that, these secondary organisations will again distribute the allocated IP address to the customers and public members.

Will the IP Address Change with the Location?

If you move across the rooms of the house, being connected over the wifi, there will be no change to your IP address. It is because you remain connected to the network. But as you exit the range of the house, the device will switch to mobile data or any public access point.

The IP address will change, and it will continue to change as you change the network tower though you have the same carrier. It is quite clear that customers and public members receive designated IP addresses from the internet service provider. This ISP is responsible for distributing and maintaining the IP addresses circulated throughout the customer base. Thus we can conclude that if the customers move house and change broadband providers, the IP address will eventually change.

For instance, if you move to a new location with a different cable and connection method it is very rare to keep the same IP address. On the other hand, if you don’t move your house or change the location still, the IP address can be altered. The reason is the vigorous amount of IP addresses are distributed and based on the circumstances, this type of address can be changed.

In case your ISP expires, and the term changes, then your IP address will be changed. In case you want to keep the same IP addresses, then you need to purchase a static IP address. Large businesses often use static IP addresses to maintain continuity and that there is no change in the IP address. It would be better if you did not focus on a single IP address mainly because a working IP address allows you to communicate with others and even transfer data security.

Change Occurring In An IP Address

It is very important to know in what scenarios you can witness an alteration in an IP address. We have given different situations where you can change an IP address.

1. Constant IP Distribution

In case the ISP assigns with random IP address, then your IP address can change even though you connect with the same network.

2. Use A VPN

If you connect to a VPN, your public IP address will be changed from one set of ISP to a VPN server. Although the IP address can be of a different country and thus you will be able to access regional content on streaming services

3. Reset The Router

In case the modem restarts or resets, the assigned internal address by the ISP changes. In general, the ISP allotted multIPle IP addresses to them. And thus, it is possible for your router or modem to assign a new public IP address. If a static address is provided for your ISP then a restart of the router might not affect the public IP address.

4. Altering From One Network To Another

If you change the internet access from your home network to carrier one, then the IP address will change eventually. It is because the carrier allows a different IP address than the broadband provider.
